 Vocabulary Words Unit 3 Week 3
Three Sisters:  A Native American planting system.  Farmers planted their fields with three plants - corn, squash, and beans together
symbiosis:  interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both 
industrialization:  the development of industries in a country or region on a wide scale
monoculture:  the cultivation of a single crop in a given area
hybrid:  the offspring of two plants or animals of different species or varieties such as a mule ( a hybrid of a donkey and a horse)
integrity:  the quality of being honest and having strong moral principals; moral uprightness
rotation:  the action of rotating around an axis or center; the action or system of rotating crops
staple:  a main or important element of something, especially of a diet
Just a quick reminder of what is happening this week.  Tomorrow is our field trip to Riley's Farm.  Students are bringing home a reminder note on what is required.  Most important items:  Be at school no later than 7:15, dress warm, no cell phones, bring a sack lunch, we will return around 3:30.  
We will have our state testing for science on Wednesday.  Please be sure your child is on time.  
Thursday, 3/23 is a minimum day with a 11:20 dismissal.  This is also the day of the jog-a-thon.  Our class will run from 8:30 - 9:00 on Track 6.  Parents who are available to help mark off laps are welcome to come at that time.  
Friday is spring picture day.  We will not have P.E. that morning since we have the jog-a-thon on Thursday.  
Next Thursday, March 30th is Open House!  More details will follow.

I received my Bachelors Degree from CSULA in Liberal Studies,I earned my teaching credential (CLAD certified) from Cal Poly Pomona and I have my Masters of Science Degree from Walden University in Reading Literacy.

I have been teaching for 20 years, and within those 20 years I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. 

My husband and I have been married for 24 years.  He is also a teacher (23 years), 6th grade in Rowland Unified.

We have two wonderful sons (Josh 23 and James 17), and a beautiful 3 year old German Shepherd named Sadie.

I love teaching and I look forward to a fulfilling year of learning and fun with your child.
