COUSD Superintendent Welcome to Charter Oak Unified!

On behalf of the Charter Oak Unified School District’s Board of Education, I would like to welcome you to our fantastic school District for the 2020-2021 school year.

As I begin my first full school year, I am happy to be a part of a wonderful organization that is focused on supporting each other, and of course, a strong emphasis on helping students. There are high expectations for student achievement and a well-balanced atmosphere to educate the whole child.

During my first eight months in Charter Oak Unified, I had the opportunity to listen to over 600 employees, students, and community members. As a result, there were many common themes identified, and this allowed me to categorize and create focus areas. These focus areas will create a shared understanding and vision for our District as we grow to support each area. With the guidance and support of our Board of Education, I am pleased to share our 5 Pillars for Success:

    • College & Career Readiness
    • Communication and Collaboration to Strengthen Relationships
    • Leadership Development
    • Student/Staff Safety & Wellness
    • Financial Responsibility & Facilities

Each of these will be implemented District-wide and will also support California’s eight State priorities, the California School Dashboard, school site goals, and the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Finally, as we move into a school year filled with many new challenges and opportunities, I welcome partnerships with our community to support our employees and students in this virtual learning world. There is no doubt it will be different; however, I am confident with open communication, we will be able to provide the best opportunity for our students.

Please make sure that you check your school’s website for updates as well as the District website, and please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Also, remember our hashtag: #charteroakunifiedisAMAZING

To a great 2020-2021 school year!
