    Brian Akers - President

    Brian R. Akers lives in Covina with his wife Denise. He is a local business owner of the Aborta-Bug Pest & Termite Control. Mr. Akers serves on the board of the East San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program as well as being an active member in the Covina Rotary Club. His own educational career was completed in the Charter Oak Unified School District. Mr. Akers has three daughters who were also proudly educated through Charter Oak schools.   • Gregg Peterson

    Gregg Peterson - Vice President

    Gregg Peterson was appointed to the COUSD Governing Board in July of 2017. He is a resident of Covina and is married with three daughters. Mr. Peterson is a Sergeant with a local municipal police department and has been a law enforcement officer for over 27 years. He has a B.A. Degree in Organizational Management, a M.A. in Public Administration and a preliminary Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in Public Service. Mr. Peterson was a D.A.R.E. instructor at Badillo and Cedargrove Elementary Schools, is an Executive Board Member on the Charter Oak Education Foundation and is a member of the Willow PTA.   • Jane Bock

    Jane Bock - Member

    Jane A. Bock has been a member of the Charter Oak community for over 55 years. Her first encounter with the school district was as a kindergarten student. Mrs. Bock, now retired, was an employee of the district for 24 years starting in 1981. She serves on the Charter Oak Education Foundation Board of Directors, Rotary Club of Glendora, and is an Ambassador for the Glendora Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband, Dennis, live in Glendora and have raised their three children, Jason, Julie and David, in Charter Oak.   • Jeanette Flores

    Jeanette Flores - Member

    Jeanette V. Flores is a native of the East San Gabriel Valley. She was raised in El Monte and currently resides in Covina with her family. Ms. Flores chose Covina as the place to raise her children and is proud to have her four children attend Charter Oak Unified School District Schools. In her current role as Senior Associate with VMA Communications, she oversees community relations and outreach strategies for multiple public transportation projects including California High Speed Rail project. Her years of community outreach, public policy and advocacy have prepared her to be an influential leader and advocate for key issues impacting the region. In her previous role with the California Center for Public Health Advocacy, she advanced policies to support healthier food choices and opportunities for physical activity in under resourced communities. For more than 20 years, Ms. Flores has focused her passion to advocate for programs and policies with the goal of improving children’s health outcomes. Ms. Flores began her career addressing health disparities in communities in Southern California with Kaiser Permanente’s Community Benefit Division. She worked mentoring and supporting youth and families in Baldwin Park. In 2008, she transferred her skill set to higher education and worked at Cal Poly Pomona as the Early Assessment Program Ambassador for four years developing relationships with local high schools to support students as they enter the university. Ms. Flores is a graduate of the H.O.P.E, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality leadership institute and a graduate of EMERGE California, a political candidate training program for women who aspire to run for office. She was also named Woman of the Year for the 48th Assembly District. Ms. Flores is an active member of her community. She serves as Secretary for the YWCA San Gabriel Valley Board of Directors and is a member of the Covina/West Covina Soroptimist International. She currently sits on the Charter Oak Unified School District Board of Education and is proud to be the first Latina on the board. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and her master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach.   • David Rose

    David Rose - Member

    David R. Rose lives in the Los Angeles County Charter Oak incorporated area with his wife and three children. He works as a special education teacher in San Bernardino. Mr. Rose holds an associate's degree in liberal arts from Pierce College, bachelor's in health education, and a master's in special education from Cal State Northridge along with a certificate of eligibility administrative services credential from National University in San Bernardino. He is also an adjunct professor at the East Los Angeles College teaching American Sign Language. Mr. Rose can be contacted at drose@cousd.net.
