Dear Charter Oak Community,

As we enter the month of May, we look forward to celebrating several important recognition events to honor those that make a difference in our students’ lives: our employees.

Every person in our district plays a role in educating our scholars. We see it in the classroom, where teachers help students grow in knowledge, confidence, and purpose. We see it in the leadership of our principals, who guide their schools with care and vision. We see it in staff such as our counselors, psychologists, and social workers, who support students and families through learning challenges or difficult moments; our custodians, who create clean and welcoming campuses; and our food services team, who ensure students have access to healthy meals each day. These are just a few examples of the many ways our employees make a difference for students across every school, program, and department in Charter Oak Unified.

Next week, we will celebrate Certificated Appreciation Week, an opportunity to honor the credentialed educators who inspire, challenge, and support our students each day. They teach, counsel, assess, and lead our students and schools.  The following week, we will celebrate Classified School Employee Week, which recognizes the support staff and frontline employees who keep our schools running. They serve meals, maintain campuses, support classrooms, assist families, manage offices, transport students, provide technical support, and help create safe, welcoming schools for all.

Soon, we will also celebrate our retirees, and I want to offer them my deepest gratitude. Many have spent the majority of their careers as part of the Charter Oak family. Year after year, they have given their time, talent, patience, and care to this district, shaping the lives of students in ways they may never fully know. Their service has strengthened our schools, supported generations of families, and helped build the district we are proud to serve today.

To every employee, and especially to those we will soon honor for their years of service, thank you for your commitment, your heart, and your legacy. Because of you, Charter Oak truly is home.
