Charter Oak Outdoor Explorers: National Parks Summer Quest

 
Get ready for an extraordinary summer filled with adventure, creativity, and discovery as we take your child on a virtual journey through America’s most iconic national parks! At Charter Oak Outdoor Explorers: National Parks Summer Quest, campers will dive into an unforgettable nature-inspired experience, sparking curiosity and a love for the great outdoors.
 
Program Information
School Sites:

Dates & Times:
  • Camp Dates: Wednesday, June 4 – Friday, August 1, 2025
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Holidays/Program Closures: June 19 & 20, and July 4
 
Cost:
  • $200.00 per week for fee based families
  • FREE for qualifying families.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks are provided for all students.

Charter Oak Outdoor Explorers: National Parks Summer Quest

Dates: Wednesday, June 4 – Friday, August 1, 2025

Times: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to  5:30 p.m. 

Holidays/Program Closure Dates:  June 19 & 20 and July 4  

Summer Enrichment (TK - 8th Grade) will be 40 days of enrichment instruction for $200.00 per week per student. *Summer Camp is FREE for qualifying families.

Who Can Attend: Summer Camp Registration is only open to current COUSD Extended Day Enrichment Program students. Your student must be at least 5 years old by the start of Summer Camp in order to attend, and no older than 8th grade in the 2025-2026 school year.

*Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks Provided for all students

Camp Charter Oak Outdoor Explores is a separate program from the Summer Success Academy (SSA).  Students participating in the Summer Success Academy (SSA)  can also enroll in Summer Camp - providing early drop-off and later pick-up options.  Each program has a separate registration process.

National Parks Summer Quest!

Camp Highlights

  • National Park Exploration: Campers will virtually "visit" iconic national parks like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite, exploring the unique landscapes and wildlife that make each park special.
  • State of the Parks Focus: Campers will learn about the current state of our national parks highlighting the environmental and natural aspects of the parks, inspiring campers to become future stewards of these treasured spaces.
  • Eco-Art Projects: Campers will express their creativity through nature-inspired art, using natural materials like leaves, rocks, and sticks to create eco-friendly masterpieces.
  • Environmental Missions: Campers will complete environmental challenges, such as creating a wildlife habitat or designing a sustainable park, to learn how to protect and preserve our planet’s parks.
  • Park Ranger Talks: Virtual sessions with park rangers will give campers a deeper understanding of park history, wildlife conservation, and the importance of protecting national treasures.
  • Nature Games: Campers will engage in outdoor games, such as "Animal Tracks Tag" and "Rock Scramble," designed to foster teamwork and enhance their knowledge of nature.
  • Park-Themed Cuisine: Campers will enjoy meals inspired by the foods found in different national parks, exploring local flavors and how food connects to nature.
  • Closing Expedition Celebration: The adventure will end with a celebration where campers share their favorite moments from the national parks they’ve “visited,” showcasing their environmental projects and newfound outdoor knowledge.

Summer Camp Registration is open only for current 2024-2025 Charter Oak Extended Day Enrichment Program students. Students must be age 5 by June 4th and no older than 8th grade in the 2025-2026 school year.

Filling out this form does not guarantee your student a spot. You will receive a confirmation email from the Child Development department which lets you know:

1) If your student is enrolled

2) If you are eligible for any subsidies OR if you will need to pay for your Summer Camp attendance.
